Your guide to Ascot dressing

Finula Crowe

If you’re anything like me, you’re still dashing around to find the perfect hat/shoes/dress/bag for Royal Ascot which kicks off this week.
There’s still time – we guarantee next day delivery by courier for orders before 1PM so, fret not!  Take a look at my dress guide below – all in keeping with the Ascot Rules.
If you are in the Royal enclosure, the same pretty strict dress codes applies.  Straps must be an inch wide at least and of course lady-like midi length.  Jumpsuits are however permitted this year!
Thankfully, the rules for the Queen Anne enclosure have relaxed a little.  This year, my enquiry to Ascott HQ reveals that  Halterneck, Shoe-string straps and off-the shoulder dresses are all permitted.  Strapless dresses and sheer straps are still a no-go.

Royal Enclosure

Available in Powder Pink or Ivory.  Both dresses come with a nude underlay and who doesn’t have a pair of nude heels in the wardrobe?  Team with a nude head piece – base must be wider than 4 inches.
Cut a dash in this classic Navy and alluring number in Bright Pink and team with black or silver accessories.  Also available in Navy or White.  A steal at £110.  The strap is the required ‘1’ inch in width necessary for Royal Enclosure ticket holders
Wear with Nude heels and hat!  Perfect and  plenty of nude accessories around this season.

Allegra Midi Lace Dress from Love Honor

Go for Classic black over nude or Ivory with nude underlay – both will be well within the Royal Enclosure guidelines and can be easily accessorised with black, nude or ivory!

Try John Lewis or my favourite Millner, Leeds-based Beth Hirst .  She has a gorgeous range of bespoke pieces, available to order now and next day delivery within the UK.  She also does custom hats but, even Beth might not have time to get one of those ready for you (she’s still working on mine… my indecision, not hers!!)

Queen Anne Enclosure

We’ve just received a new delivery of our very popular Rosetta Midi Dress, and with Off-Shoulder being both bang-on-trend and permitted, this is a perfect combination of elegance and style.  Comes in classic Ivory, pretty Powder Pink, sophisticated French Navy and the new addition of Poppy red.
This super flattering style is also perfect for those with a wardrobe full of nude accessories and takes full advantage of the more relaxed dress code which permits ‘Shoe-string straps’.  Available in Ivory, French navy and Powder pink.
With temperatures expected to soar this week, look no further than the elegant ‘Rory’ dress from Bariano.  With 3 colours on offer, you’re bound to find some matching accessories in your wardrobe.  Team the pale blue with white accessories or go for striking black accessories with the red dress.  If you’re game, the white will pair well with a pop of colour – bright pink would be my pick!
Again, with halter necks permitted this year, this lace beauty will turn heads.  Available in flattering Coral, pure White or, if you’ve been taking advantage of the recent sun to top up your tan, go for the alluring Turquoise.
Finally….
This scarlet stunner will look perfect with… you guessed it…. Nude heels and hat!
Whatever you choose, have a wonderful day and don’t forget to tag FiniqueLondon in your posts.
(My money’s on any horse from Tipperary’s ‘Coolemore’ stables… close to my hometown of Cashel!)
Good luck!
